Treowen House, Monmouth Wedding Photography – Victoria & John

When Victoria and John asked me to be their photographer for their Treowen House wedding I was super excited. It holds a special place in my heart, having been where I shot one of my very first weddings and is somewhere where I’ve been a good few times photographing weddings. A Grade I listed building, sat in the rolling South Wales countryside, it’s one of Monmouthshire’s most unusual historic houses. Containing multiple paneled rooms, stunning staircases, beautiful wall art and a cosy atmosphere to die for.

Victoria and John fully embraced the rustic charm of Treowen, festooning it with shedloads of handmade touches, including hand-made bunting, a stunning hog roast, their lush dog, Steve, was also in attendance. I’ve always said it, but any wedding where dogs are guests immediately gets my seal of approval, they are just great, kids love them and they always seem to gravitate towards me, must be the secret stash of dog treats I keep in my camera bag!

I turned up just as Victoria was getting ready, make-up was courtesy of the super-talented Janet White-Ashby check her work out, its lovely. Originally the ceremony was due to take place outside, but with the changeable Welsh weather, they decided to flip it indoors, a mad rush to bring all the chairs inside ensued! On from their lovely chilled out ceremony it was onto the best part of the day, drinks and fun! John is originally from Ireland, so the Irish contingent definitely helped propel the wedding up a few notches! It was a wonderful day, very down to earth and very friendly.

I couldn’t recommend Ian any more. Brilliant at his job, he takes beautiful natural shots that truly catch the best moments. Communicating with Ian was a breeze, he’s professional but relaxed. A great chap. Victoria & John
