Why I love this image – Lindos, Rhodes, Greece Wedding Photography

As part of an on-going series of features, I’m going to be delving back in time to share some of my favourite ever moments from my wedding photography archives. On this occasion it tells the story of a photograph from a destination wedding in Lindos, Rhodes, Greece.

As a reportage wedding photographer I always look for images that have a narrative behind them, a shot that creates an emotional connection with the bride and groom means so much more than a posed image.

Why I love this image - Lindos, Rhodes, Greece Wedding Photography

This photo tells a beautiful story. It was shot in the quiet Greek town of Lindos back in 2012, at the wedding of our good friends Gem & Stu. Stu is one of those guys who wears his heart on his sleeve and is never afraid to let his emotions show. The morning of the wedding was pretty frantic, we were all getting prepared in the 40 degree heat, Stu’s mum actually fell and broke her leg in the hotel and Stu lost his speech! All in all this significantly upped the ante in the emotion stakes!

I positioned myself so that I could frame Gem, Stu, Gem’s dad and Jamie, the best man. I knew the composition would contain some context and not just be a closely cropped head shot. Just love this shot, obviously the look on Stu’s face is full of emotion, the happiness on Gem’s dad’s face and the almost awkward look on Jamie’s face makes this shot one of my favourites from the day.

If you have booked your wedding in Lindos and are looking for a destination wedding photographer, get in touch. I have special rates for my destination wedding photography and have availability both this summer and the summer of 2018.
