Hannah & Alex got in touch a couple of years back to ask me to be their wedding photographer at the Ceridwen Centre in Carmarthenshire, South Wales. I jumped at the chance! Not only is the Ceridwen Centre one of the best Welsh wedding venues, (complete with some uber cute donkey’s) but it’s also a stone’s throw from where I was born and brought up on the Gower Peninsula.
So I took the longish trip from Bath to Gower the day before their wedding, meaning a quick 20 minute drive to Llandysul where the Ceridwen Centre is located. The weather was the usual Welsh fare…so think…a bit grey, a bit rainy, but ultimately decent! When I turned up I went straight to where Hannah was getting ready with her mates and family. It was a real hive of activity with dresses being put on, coffee being brewed and nervous laughter being exchanged. Always one of my favorite parts of the wedding day for me as there is such a range of emotions on display. My style of photography is perfectly at home at this stage of the wedding, as it allows everyone to concentrate on the most important thing…getting ready to have the most amazing day of their lives!
On from the whole ‘getting ready for the biggest day of their lives’ thing, we all headed off to the lovely rustic barn they have at Ceridwen for the ceremony. An emotional time it was as well, Alex shed tears on several occasions, we have the father of the bride hesitantly giving Hannah away (obviously in a jokey fashion…would have been a tad awkward otherwise) and we have plenty of laughs lobbed in for good measure.
Once the formal bits were done, myself and H & A headed down to the old gypsy caravan to shoot some super informal photos. All in good time, as we were headed back up to the teepee for the reception, the heavens opened up!
On offer at the reception, was the most awesome curry ever, amazing speeches, bubble machines and some epic dance moves. Hannah & Alex had the most amazing day at The Ceridwen Centre, it was fab to be part of.
If you are getting married at Welsh Green Weddings, do drop me a line, it’s a venue I love shooting at, they put on such a well organised day, oh, and it’s the perfect excuse to say hello their lovely donkeys!
