Wookey Hole Caves Somerset Wedding Photography

Wookey Hole Caves Somerset Wedding PhotographyI must admit that when a wedding enquiry includes words such as “giant dog”, “caves” and “dinosaurs” I get a tiny bit excited! I mean, come on, it’s not every day that someone gets married in a cave system, with their humungous dog, walking out into a land of dinosaurs is it?!

Steve and Alison had the most amazingly unique wedding planned that’s for sure. Taking place at the wonderful Wookey Hole Caves down in deepest Somerset. Their massive Old English Sheepdog was also going to be centre stage as well.

I arrived as Alison was just finishing up getting ready in a room called “The Whitches Hat”! Her gaggle of bridesmaids was on hand to help her refine hair and dress positioning, and once completed we were ready to go. A little walk down to the caves followed and then in we went!

Now, from a photography standpoint, photographing in caves, was a tad different to the usual church or posh house affair. The caves were lit with dramatic, multicoloured lighting, and with ceiling heights that changed metre by metre, it certainly kept me on my toes!

Steve and Alison tied the knot in the large ceremonial chamber, which was breathtaking! Their pooch was absolutely loving it as well, on hand for handing over the rings, and for those all important post wedding hugs!

Once the ceremony was done, we all headed outside for some pictures, and then onto the reception. This took place at a Victorian type amusement arcade, a cracking feature, providing everyone with plenty of laughs.

If you are getting married at Wookey Hole Caves and are after a super relaxed wedding photographer, drop me a line!
