I do a fair amount of traveling as a Bath documentary wedding photographer, so it was with much joy that Rhian & John decided to get married at Folly Farm, a mere 5 minute drive from my front door!
When I arrived, I headed straight to one of the lovely converted barns on site to photograph Rhian getting ready. Maria Lucas was doing her thing with the make-up (awesome work, go check her out) and the bridesmaids were busy having a laugh and offering the support that every bride needs. In between Rhian getting her dress on, I popped over to see how John was getting on, he was busy getting his shirt ironed and greeting the arrival of some of the guests. As I always say, as a documentary wedding photographer,  the preparation stage of a wedding is a vital part of my story-telling approach, it gives my couples a real insight into the one aspect of the day where they can’t see what the other is up to. It’s also a great way for everyone to get used to me being around. As unobtrusive as I aim to be, I find when folks are used to me being in their close proximity they act a lot more naturally, the key to successful story telling images.
Rhian & John’s ceremony was full of laughter and love, they were surrounded by fun-loving friends and family, the ceremony barn as adorned by the most beautiful hand-made bunting, a lovely touch. Once the ceremony was finished, we all headed out to enjoy the summer sun in the beautiful surroundings of Folly Farm and then onwards to enjoy the speeches and wedding breakfast.
The day closed off with everyone enjoying the evening sun, toasting marshmallows around the fire and then onto the dance floor for some pretty lively dancing!
Absolutely loved being part of Rhian and John’s big day at Folly Farm near Bath. There was always plenty of action going on, the weather was beautiful, the venue stunning and most importantly, their friends and family enjoyed the day to the max!
