Tash and Matt asked me to be their Exeter wedding photographer at the lovely Bickham Barn after having shot their best mates’ wedding.
Matt and Tash kindly left me some lovely words after recieving their images.
We were desperate to have Ian as our wedding photographer after seeing the amazing job he did for my wife’s cousin’s wedding – not only were the pictures superb and incredibly evocative, but Ian fitted in so well and was brilliant with all the guests. And he was every bit as brilliant as we’d expected on our wedding day too. He captured the entire story of the day, from the getting ready to the reception, and so many nuances of our emotions and experiences. Watching the pictures back really is like reliving our wedding day – so emotional and so special. His work is brilliantly creative and his eye for what to capture and how to do so is spectacular. We couldn’t have hoped for more and would recommend him to anyone. He was extremely efficient to work with throughout – quick to reply, always clear with information, and supplied his very high quality images exactly when he said he would. He’s also a really affable bloke who fits in beautifully at any wedding, and goes over and above. Highly, highly recommended.
Their wedding was an absolute blast to photograph, it was basically a massive party from start to finish! The day started for me over at Tash’s mums house with Tash and her lovely sisters all getting ready, the vibe so properly chilled out, plenty of laughs, with a tiny bit of nerves chucked in for good measure! In between the dresses being put on I popped over to Tash and Matt’s actual house to see Matt and his mates getting ready, there was a touch more tension in the air in the house, definitely nothing to do with a couple of the blokes watching Liverpool trying to play Palace in the footie!
As a documentary wedding photographer, photographing the prep stage of a wedding is extremely important to give the final images a proper narative. It’s the only stage during the day where each half of the wedding doesn’t see what the other half is getting up to!
A quick blast back to see Tash getting in her dress and then I headed over to their ceremony which took place at St Nicholas Church in the lovely town of Topsham. Fair play to the minister, he was super relaxed and made the ceremony both serious and fun.
On from there we all headed over to Bickham Barn for the reception. First order of the day was for Tash and Matt to raise up their very own flag with their own wedding logo on it. The reception was a blur of cake (check the cake table), cheese, dancing and laughter.
