Ella and Ali dropped me a line to ask if I could be their photographer for their wedding at Beeses Tea Gardens in Bristol, a lush little quirky venue on the banks of the River Avon.
It all kicked off on a pleasant May day last year at the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel where Ella and her mates were getting ready. I spent 30 minutes photographing the final stages of the whole getting ready thing before it was time to take the short walk over to City Hall on College Green. Such an awesome looking building! They both said their ‘i-do’s’ with a degree of comedy chucked in, the registrar might have called the groom by the wrong name…which set everyone off!
Once the formalities were done and dusted it was time for everyone to let their hair down! For the second time in a matter of weeks, myself and the Tower Belle boat were acquainted! From not having a wedding on a boat for many years to 2 in 2 weeks was certainly turn-up for the books! She’s a faithful old girl The Tower Belle, and allows for some interesting angles, also, there is a real air of excitement from the guests, not everyday you get to party on a boat! The boat wound its way gracefully through Bristol harbourside and then down to Beeses.
The reception at Beeses was a suitably rowdy affair, with loads of action going down! A mixture of handcuffs, laughter, ale and dancing was the perfect tonic and was the perfect place for a documentary wedding photographer to thrive.
