Cotswold Wedding Venues

Cotswolds Wedding Venues: My choice

What is there to say about the Cotswolds, renowned the world over for its beautiful rolling countryside, peaceful villages, stately homes and ancient woodlands. You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding searching for Cotswold wedding venues.

Being based in Bath, I am in close proximity to many of the main areas in the Cotswolds, such as Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. The region as a whole is pretty big, with an overall perimeter for just under 800 miles.

The great thing about the Cotswolds is that no matter what venue you choose, it will be pretty close to a beautiful slab of countryside, or a picturesque town, or in most cases, both. This means you and your guests will have ample places to stay should your wedding venue not offer a large amount of accommodation

I have photographed many of the largest Cotswold wedding venues, but I’ll just concentrate on a few of the big ones below, each offering an unparalleled service and all being absolutely beautiful.

Hyde House – Stow On The Wold, Gloucestershire

With a choice of three venues within a venue, you are spoilt for choice at Hyde House. You can either go for the super elegant Manor House, The Grange or The Barn for your day.

They all have one thing in common, and that is the setting, which is sit smack bang in the stunning Cotswold countryside, overlooking rolling fields, with some sheep chucked in for good measure. If you wanted to have an outside wedding, they have that covered as well, as their oak arbour is licenced for outdoor wedding ceremonies.

The Kingscote Barn – Tetbury, Gloucestershire

Kingscote Barn is one of a kind, nestled in the Cotswold Hills with a background of beautiful long-range vistas, it ticks all the boxes. The 17th-century stone barn is at the bottom of a long driveway, which makes an amazing impression on everyone attending the wedding.

As a photographer Kingscote ticks so many boxes. No matter what time of year, the barn is always looking its finest. The countryside constantly changes, whether it be full of spring lambs, or with the low winter light casting a warm glow across it, it really doesn’t matter when you get married.

They’ve also recently popped in some absolutely gorgeous wood cabins, which provide accommodation for up to 50 people.

Cripps Barn – Cirencester, Gloucestershire

Cripps Barn – Cirencester, GloucestershireSituated super close to the lovely town of Cirencester, Cripps Barn is a gorgeous 18th century stone barn. With a 200 people capacity, its bloody big as well, and is the perfect place of a really good knees-up! It’s also got an amazing sound system, so if you’re want to drop some beats, this the place to go.

Oh, and the food is to die for. All cooked over the open flames of their bbq’s and rotisseries and with the freshest ingredients, it really is an event.

Manor by the Lake – Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

A stone’s throw from the regency spa town of Cheltenham, Manor by the Lake is one of my favourite Cotswold wedding venues. It’s an award-winning wedding venue, set in a truly wonderful setting. Nestled in a massive garden, complete with lake, and beautiful Italian pavilion.

They are licensed for both outdoor and indoor wedding ceremonies, so whether you’re planning a small gathering or are planning a full on marquee extraviganza for 300 guests, Manor by the Lake has it covered.

I hope that article was useful, if you are searching for your Cotswold wedding photographer, drop me a line and tell me all about your big day.

"We booked Ian for our wedding after seeing what a superb job he did at my brother's wedding last year. We recieved our photos, (very promptly!) and couldn't be happier with them!
I love that they're totally natural, so flicking through them literally takes you straight back to the day. On top of all that, Ian is a real joy to be around, the whole family think hes the bees knees!"

Harriet & Will

"Ian was my photographer for our wedding. I absolutly love the style of photography Ian shoots. So natural! Most of the time i didnt know Ian was there and it shows. The images are so natural and really tell a story of the day, people laughing and talking and so on. He was so fantastic infact that 2 of my family members actually went on to ask Ian to be their photographer at their own weddings. I cannot recommend Ian enough!"

Faith & Owen

"Ian has been fantastic in every way. Communication was excellent throughout. Ian arrived on the day, well in time and put all guests at ease with his friendliness and humour and blended straight in. He got the most amazing shots of our special day and we can't recommend him enough. Thank you ever so much Ian for providing us with such cherished memories."
